Description: This Scimitar is a perfect choice for breaking down large pieces of meat in butchery or filleting salmon. An elegant gift for an outdoorsman that will feel at home in either a collection or a used heavily.
Bladesmith Peter Pruyn began by forging the 10-1/2 inch blade to shape. The 1095 carbon steel he used is from a 1946 leaf spring. This steel ensures a superior, long lasting edge. Because it is formed from carbon steel, we recommend drying the knife after cutting, and using camellia oil to avoid oxidation or rust. A distal taper ensures optimal balance. The blade has an antiqued finish.
Stabilized pecan scales are set on the full tang for strength and durability. The scales are carved to swell at the center for a secure grip. Red fiber spacers assist the wood to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. A brass bolster and mosaic pins complete this knife.
