Description: Swedish knifemaker Greger Forselius has a flair for design and a passion for making knives. This hakata santoku chef's knife is sure to be a favorite in your kitchen!
The hakata santoku is a traditional general purpose Japanese chef's knife from the Hakata-ku region of Japan (on Kyushu). This comfortable design is a fantastic multipurpose chopper. The Hakata style is a perfect choice to grab whether slicing onions, chopping parsley, or dicing meats.
The blade was ground from a beautiful feather pattern damascus forged from carbon steels by American knifemaker Randy Haas. The blade was then convex ground and heat treated to 60 Hrc by Forselius. The pattern is immediately captivating both from afar and when examining the knife closely.
The handle is made from presentation grade desert ironwood with stainless steel and brass spacers. It has been sculpted to fill out the hand comfortably. An ironwood front spacer was textured to provide a comfortable pinch grip when using the knife.
To keep the knife protected when not in use, this knife includes a hand made wood saya formed from matching desert ironwood with maple accents. The saya pin is stainless steel with a carved ironwood head.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
