Description: Designed by custom knifemaker Brad Southard, the Spyderco Positron takes all the best features of a full-service flipper folder and distills them into a compact, pocket-friendly format optimized for everyday carry. The Positron is a faithful expression of Southard’s “Ion” folder.
The full flat ground blade is made from CPM-S30V stainless steel with a satin finish. CPM-S30V is an American-made and developed premium grade stainless steel created especially for knives. It is a powdered metallurgical steel with a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties. This gives the blade superior corrosion resistance, toughness, and edge retention. The blade can be easily opened using the ambidextrous flipper tab. To ensure an ultra-smooth opening action, the Positron’s blade and handle are joined by special ball bearing washers that greatly reduce friction and ensure a long service life.
The handle’s twin scales are crafted from solid carbon fiber that is precisely machined and polished to create an amazingly comfortable grip. They also house the nested, skeletonized stainless steel liners that are the heart of the knife’s sturdy liner lock mechanism. A partial carbon fiber backbar adds additional strength while keeping the knife light. A reversible deep-pocket wire clip offers either left or right-side tip-up carry and strikes an excellent balance between subtle discretion and immediate access.
