Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus and sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Recently he started making some high performance kitchen knives and the results have been stunning!
Slicers or carving knives are well suited for slicing and portioning meats and fish due to the thin, long blade. Extremely sharp, these knives are also well suited for preparing sushi and sashimi. The extended blade length allows you to slice with one long stroke, instead of sliding the knife back and forth in a sawing motion. The result is a superior, clean cut.
The 10 inch blade was forged from Micke's own multi-bar damascus, combining 20C and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The deeply etched damascus shows Andersson's skill at the forge and will have you staring at the blade's complexities for hours. Because the knife was forged from carbon steels. We recommend using camellia oil to protect the blade from rust.
The handle is reindeer antler, contoured to provide a comfortable grip. The handle is secured using a large central mosaic pin. The front and rear bolsters are forged from Micke's own twist pattern damascus. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
The included display stand made by Micke combines oak, a forged steel shaft, and reindeer antler.
Excellent work throughout!
