Description: This dramatic steak knife set was hand build by South African knifemaker Arno Bernard. Arno Bernard Sr. is a maker from South Africa and has been making knives for over 35 years. He has been a member of the Knifemakers Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) for over 20 years. Living in South Africa has allowed him the luxury of using many different exotic handle materials -- some even collected himself.
The hollow ground blades are hand ground Austrian Bohler N690 stainless steel. N690 ensures a keen, long lasting edge with good resistance to chipping. It is a great choice for high performance, hard use knives. The long, slender blades are extremely elegant and will create a truly unique, dramatic place setting. They are razor sharp.
Bog oak handle scales are set on the full tang for strength and durability. This wood has been buried in a bog. Low oxygen conditions of the bog protect the wood from normal decay, while the underlying peat provides acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals react with tannins in the wood, gradually giving it a distinct dark color. The handles are nicely rounded for a comfortable grip.
This set of six steak knives is accompanied by a hand built presentation box by Brian Coetzee.
We strongly recommend hand washing.
Truly exceptional!
