Description: Swedish knifemaker Greger Forselius has a flair for design and a passion for making knives. This chef's knife will be a kitchen favorite. The high performance knife will do a great job, whether slicing meats, chopping vegetables, or mincing herbs.
The blade was forged by BakerForge in the US. A damascus core (forged from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels) is surrounded by Coppermascus cladding. Coppermascus is created by a fusion welding processes without the use of nickel. The result is a stronger bond. The blade features an S-grind for effortless cutting with easy food release.
The handle combines ancient woolly mammoth molar with bog oak. The mamoth molar is contoured into a Japanese-inspired octagonal handle and is heirloom fit to the bog oak bolster. The bog oak was buried in a peat bog for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. The extremely low oxygen conditions of the bog protect the wood from normal decay, while the underlying peat provides acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals react with tannins in the wood, gradually giving it a distinct dark brown to almost black color. Thin copper spacers reflect copper tones in the handle.
To keep the knife protected during transportation, Greger has included a hand stitched custom leather sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
